Xylol, dimethylbenzene, methyl toluene, Dimethyl Benzene, Methyl Toluene, Xylene Mixed Isomers, Xylitol

Mixed Xylene is a highly volatile, colourless liquid consisting of two methyl groups (CH₃) attached to a benzene ring (C₆H₆). Depending on the position of the methyl groups, xylene exists in three isomeric forms: ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, and para-xylene. Known for its excellent solvency power, Mixed Xylene is widely used as a solvent, intermediate, and carrier fluid across industrial processes.

Uses of Xylene

Solvent Applications

Mixed Xylene is a versatile solvent valued for its ability to dissolve greases, resins, and polymers. It is widely used in:

  • Paints, varnishes, and coatings as a thinning and cleaning solvent
  • Adhesives and sealants providing excellent solvency for resins and polymers
  • Rubber and polymers used as a solvent in processing and formulation

Agriculture

  • Used in the formulation of agrochemicals, pesticides, and herbicides
  • Carrier solvent for active ingredients in crop protection products

CASE & Construction Industry

  • Essential in Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers (CASE)
  • Improves drying times, application consistency, and overall performance

Chemical Processing

  • Intermediate in the production of phthalic anhydride, isophthalic acid, and terephthalic acid
  • Used in the synthesis of dyes, plastics, and other chemical derivatives

Rubber & Polymers

  • Solvent in the manufacture of synthetic rubber
  • Key ingredient in polymer processing and blending
